Jay and Mary Pat,
Is it happiness or jealousy that I am feeling? Some of both. Be safe. Take care of each other. Send some pictures of the bottom of the world to the rest of us. We will think of you daily as you complete the big seven! We will check your website daily and send you good Karma, as we know we all have it now!! Love from the Weldens!!!!!

I will definitely try to send details daily, but this is a new way of communicating for me, and I am not sure how the Internet is going to work in the Weddell Sea where we will be sailing.
We are both excited to have this opportunity to visit the Southermost Continent on our planet, and hope our messages are interesting to you as well

We will definitely try to write daily, but since I am just learning how this works, and since I am not sure how much internet availability there is at the bottom of the world, I hope you will excuse any missing postings.
We are both very excited about having this opportunity to visit the most Southern Continent on our planet, and hope my postings will be interesting to you as well.

We are in Buenos Aires. It is a beautiful day with the temperature cool but approaching 70 degrees. The city is beautiful and classical. Everyone is celebrating the election and inauguration of Christina Kirchner, the 1st female president of Argentina, and the wife of the outgoing president, Nestor Kirchner. There are parades and demonstrations everywhere with huge drums and the sound of firecrackers. The formal party is opened to everyone and is being held in the open park in front of the government palace. Our hotel is packed with heads of state, and their security guards, of many of the South American countries who are here to acknowledge Mrs. Kirchner’s victory.

Birthday parties, Christmas parties, but no tours....YIKES...I wish we were with you!
Love and take care of each other,

December 14-15—IGUAZU FALLS
This was our maiden voyage to this part of Argentina and Brazil, and we were the only Americans that were allowed into Brazil because none of the others in our group had entry visas. As a result, we have magnificent photos from both sides of the falls. The weather was over 100 degrees which is a century away from the weather we will experience in the next 12 days, but a powerful, speedy, jet boat excursion into and under the falls kept us cool and extremely WET!

Antarctica is sometimes identified as a continent surrounded by oceans, whereas the Arctic is an ocean surrounded by continents. I think that about covers the matter but does not offer the excitement, thrill and fascination of visiting this 7th continent of our planet. We were very fortunate to have spectacular weather of as high as 55 degrees, and experiencing a snow storm that would have excited the most avid skier. We have thoroughly enjoyed the landscape, the wildlife sightings, and just being here after 25 years of planning this visit. I would recommend this adventurous journey to anyone interested in seeing our world. This is the past, and also our hope for the future!
I have a lot of magnificent photos but cannot yet figure out how to add them to this email....I will definitely find out more before we leave town again
